All-frills approach: Frills are making a comeback this fall-winter season

While some may prefer the no-frills approach when it comes to attires, there’s no denying that frills are your go-to embellishments to transform an otherwise sombre outfit into a  fun and flirtatious ensemble. But it’s a fine line from being fancy to being visual clutter, and it’s a line that haute couture maisons have mastered how to tread carefully.

So the FW19 collections boast modern frills that range from being asymmetric and unexpected to being dramatic and dreamy. In British fashion house Burberry’s FW19 look, for instance, while the runway is awash with umber numbers, its creative director Riccardo Tisci adds an element of fun with short fringy dresses and frilly-yet-formal power suits. On the other hand, Italian luxury marque Valentino explores its poetic, romantic side with extravagantly frilly dresses in shades of pastels. Check out our favourite all-frills looks from the FW19 runways.
