The fifth LIV Golf League of 2023 was held in Singapore on April 28 to 30. Resorts World Sentosa Singapore, which was the golf tournament’s presenting partner and official hotel, played a crucial role by offering world-class accommodation and non-stop entertainment. The leading premium lifestyle destination impressed an international set of world-class golfers and visitors that arrived by the thousands to catch this first official LIV Golf event in Asia.
The resort laid out the red carpet with a panoply of ‘LIV Golf Week Experiences’ that were specially made for golf fans and players alike to enjoy the tournament and their leisure time at RWS, which included themed luxury stays, top-notch restaurants and other attractions like the S.E.A. Aquarium, Adventure Cove Waterpark, and Universal Studios Singapore.
Resorts World Sentosa kickstarted the event with a welcome party at its very own The Coliseum at Hard Rock Hotel Singapore for LIV players and invited guests. There was also a special meet-and-greet and interview session with LIV Golf Commissioner and CEO Greg Norman and team captains Ian Poulter, Bubba Watson and Dustin Johnson at the limited-time-only Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience at RWS’ B1 The Forum.
Another highlight of the event was undoubtedly the “Longest Putt to LIV Golf” challenge at the RWS’ B1 The Forum as nearly 2000 people tried their hand at Singapore’s longest artificial putting surface, a 32-metre-long course put together by RWS. Among those who tried were LIV captains Johnson, Poulter and Watson. But it was Iron Heads GC’s New Zealand player Danny Lee who impressed everyone by holing his putt at the challenge.
The 3-day team tournament saw American and RangeGoats GC star Talor Gooch prevailing to become the first-ever back-to-back individual winner of the LIV Golf league by beating Fireballs GC captain Sergio Garcia during a playoff. Adding to his feat, Gooch’s team, RangeGoats GC, also took their first win this year and together with team captain Watson and fellow team members, Thomas Pieters and Harold Varner, they celebrated the win on stage.
