Baby Cashmere: Loro Piana offers Mother Nature’s softest fibre

Loro Piana's Baby Cashmere is pure indulgence to the touch

Cashmere, the ultra-luxurious wool, has been prized for thousands of years. Heralded as the finest fabric in the world, it was first harvested in Mongolia, Nepal and northeastern India all the way back in 300BC. Across the intervening millennia, it has remained amongst the most sought-after fibres in the world, thanks to its ability to imbue any garment it graces with sheer comfort, unmistakable elegance and the softest of touches.

Ten years ago, renowned fashion label Loro Piana introduced the next evolution of this prized wool to the world with its ultra soft Baby Cashmere creations, instantly charming the world of high fashion while setting a new benchmark in quality and style.

Loro Piana’s Baby Cashmere is painstakingly harvested from the underfleece of Hircus goat kids that inhabit the mountainous regions of Mongolia and Northern China before being lovingly woven into the brand’s luxurious garments. It takes the fleece of 19 kids to make just one pullover, and that of 58 kids to fashion an entire overcoat.

With an average diameter of 13 microns, this precious fibre is also finer than the best traditional cashmere on the market. It’s precisely this characteristic that allows this precious fabric to envelop its wearer in the most intimate of caresses. Melding warmth and comfort with an understatedly chic elegance, Baby Cashmere represents the culmination of a decade of in-depth research to deliver a fabric of unfailing quality, unmatchable softness and unending elegance.
