Kent & Curwen, one of the UK’s most illustrious apparel brands, chose the Hong Kong Club – one of the city’s most exclusive and long-established venues – to celebrate its 90th anniversary. The event was hosted by Dr Victor Fung – chairman of the Trinity Group, K&C’s parent company – and Sabrina Fung, his daughter. Attendees were also treated to a speech highlighting the importance of partnership and teamwork by David Beckham, the international sports, fashion, style icon and newly-appointed K&C brand ambassador.

Magical Madrid

A notably Spanish theme was in evident at one of the Grand Hyatt Ballroom’s most superlative soirees recently. The event, a truly gala dinner, saw El Corte Inglés, the Spanish Tourism Board, Madrid’s Regional Council and Real Madrid join forces to host “Magic Exists: Welcome to Madrid,” a truly memorable evening that proved irresistible to many of Hong Kong’s foremost socialites. On hand to prove that Madrid really was a dream holiday destination was Jorge Blass.

A Write Good Night

Howard’s Gourmet in Central was the chosen venue for the 25th anniversary presentation of the hugely prestigious Montblanc de la Culture Arts Patronage Awards. This commemorative event was hosted by Julien Renard, the president of Montblanc Asia-Pacific and saw Johnnie To honoured for his lifetime commitment to the Hong Kong film industry. To mark his achievement, he was presented with a limited edition Peggy Guggenheim fountain pen and received a €15,000 contribution to his Fresh Wave charitable imitative.

One for the Road

Following the triumphant launch of the four preceding instalments, last month saw the Macallan and Lalique uniting once more – to present the fifth and final masterpiece in the prestigious The Macallan in Lalique Six Pillars Collection. With Nan Fung Place in Central as a suitably prestigious venue, the two companies unveiled the Peerless Spirit decanter, the concluding part of a series that seeks to celebrate the many elements that define the character of this extraordinary single malt whisky.

Arty Party

Asia Week Hong Kong celebrated its fourth anniversary last month with exclusive lectures and cocktails at the University Museum and the Art Gallery of the University of Hong Kong. Government officials, artists, collectors, antiques dealers, as well as art professionals from local and international galleries, museums, auctions houses and cultural institutions all came together for this gathering. Of note was a speech on Indonesian batiks by Josephine Obin Komara, a renowned textile designer .
