NOBU InterContinental has already established itself as one of the best Japanese fine-dining establishments in town. But that doesn’t mean it’s ready to rest on its laurels. In fact, though 2018 is just in its infancy, NOBU’s chefs have already planned a year-long gastronomic extravaganza with its 2-4-8 Gourmet Journey of Japan.

Over the course of the year, the avant-garde restaurant hopes take HK foodies on a culinary odyssey through Japan. Executive Chef Sean Mell and Executive Sushi Chef Kazunari Araki will be whipping up fresh seasonal menus focusing on two prefectures from one of Japan’s four main islands for this eight-part experience.

For its premier instalment, NOBU InterContinental puts the spotlight on Fukuoka, the largest city on Kyushu Island, whose food culture has been greatly influenced by neighbours Korea and China. Expect plenty of regional ingredients such as saba, sazae, kibinago kurodai and mentaiko on the menu.

Running from 16 January to 11 February, the six-course ‘Home to Fukuoka’ set lunch will costs HK$668 per person, while the eight-course ‘Home to Fukuoka’ dinner omakase menu is priced at HK$1,488 a head. If you’re feeling indulgent, opt for the premium sake pairings to complete your meal!
