Alone in the Wilderness

Debuting in Hong Kong with her first solo exhibition in Asia, Virginia Overton explores the stories and histories of salvaged materials that she had collected from her immediate environment in Alone in the Wilderness. The exhibition presents sculptures and works on paper that revive salvaged ready-made materials with a new purpose and life as it contributes to the making of an entirely new piece of work.

Reviving an old tradition with a fresh perspective, The Experimental Chinese Opera Festival showcases original productions that offer the old-age musical style a new element. It highlights two Xiqu Centre-produced experimental Cantonese opera works – Farewell My Concubine (New Adaptation) and the Hong Kong premiere of Wenguang Explores the Valley. There will also be a live online series of creative sharing sessions from four regional China opera troupes.
